About East Stroudsburg Borough
Overview
East Stroudsburg Borough is another Monroe County borough located in the state of Pennsylvania, residing right along the edge of the eastern portion of the state—coincidentally, the famous Pocono Mountains region of the Pennsylvania area. Although it lies close to the bulk of the Poconos region, the borough houses a relatively modest population, relatively modestly sized itself.
The East Stroudsburg Borough area is actually smaller than some surrounding townships in Monroe County, possessing a total area of around 2.9 square miles—all, of which, is pure land. Its population reached at least 10,000, as according to the 2010 census.
Thanks to that, it eventually grew into one of the largest boroughs of the four that reside within Monroe County. It's also the largest municipality in the entire East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania statistical area. Nowadays, it's also the home to the Pocono Medical Center and East Stroudsburg University—considered the largest service institutions in the county.

The East Stroudsburg Borough is naturally an ideal place for people to settle into, whether they're an individual or looking to move their families to a more rural Pocono homes.
The relatively close proximity to the Pocono Mountains and its populous metropolitan area is considered ideal for people looking to relocate into one of the many Pocono real estate properties located there.
History
The entirety of the East Stroudsburg Borough area shares a rich history, dating back to the 18th century. East Stroudsburg Borough became incorporated as a borough in May 1870, following the community's significant population growth spurt occurring in the prior years. The original borough, in fact, spanned over 500 acres with at least 50 houses located throughout the area.
The borough was originally named Dansbury after Daniel Brodhead, one of the area's earliest settlers. Brodhead, in fact, first purchased land in present-day East Stroudsburg, mostly in the area that's now occupied by the Pocono Medical Center.
Brodhead and his family eventually built a home on the 1,000 acres that stretched along Brodhead Creek, which was known as Analomink River then. Brodhead later added to his land by purchasing 500 more acres, acres that extended on the west side of the river into the present-day location of Stroudsburg.
The area, naturally, was mostly wilderness around the time of the Brodhead's settlement. It was the Brodhead's settlement, in fact, that helped the area gain significant popularity with travelers and transplants from across the country.
The area further developed throughout the mid 1800s, especially once the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad developed throughout the Monroe County region around that time. The town started growing more once the mainline of the railroad found its way in a relatively convenient location close to the city.
The increase traffic naturally fostered many businesses and industries, soon morphing East Stroudsburg Borough into the industrial center of the county at the time.
